Notes:

In previous studies of FZTW, researchers had only set up a 1D or linear array across the fault. With this 2D array, we hope to learn more about the fault zone, two dimensionally. According to researchers, FZTW are observable up to 3 times the fault zone width, which in this area is thought to be 70-100 meters. In the 5*5 element array, the spacing between elements is 50 meters, so we can also test if the FZTW can be seen across the array or if there is a different maximum distance.

The seismometers were aligned parallel and perpendicular to the fault. The components were also aligned parallel and perpendicular to the fault (315 and 45 degrees) to best observe the FZTW since they travel as SH waves.
