NOTES:

This is a photo of the eastern portion of Quatal Canyon. (USGS aerial photographs from June I, 1994)
The green line is the fault interpreted by Dibblee [1982]. It is dotted where the fault trace is questionable.
The red line is where we interpreted the fault from the aerial photographs.
The yellow arrows show the maximum horizontal compressive stress axes for each location. Each location is numbered.
The larger yellow arrows show the maximum horizontal compressive stress axes for the combined data set.
In general, extension axes are nearly vertical.
As shown, there are a variety of stress orientations.
