> Abstract

What was your favorite part about your UseIT experience?

I entered into this program with no coding background, so my favorite
part was learning independently how to write code. I also really
enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and the people I was working with.

What is your overall impression of the facilities and equipment?

While there are always more and better computers and software to buy,
the facilities are great. The computers we work with are nice and we
are working in one of the top earthquake centers in the world. The
amount of resources that SCEC has is unbelievable.

What is the atmosphere or working environment like?
It is very laid-back, but not to the point that people aren't
challenging themselves. Everyone is really nice and our advisor is very
understanding.

What about the friendships you’ve made while staying here?
I definitely won't forget the people that I have been spending time
with this summer. It has been really fun spending time with these
interesting and wonderful and unique people.

What have you done in the UseIT program this summer?

I worked on adding 3 new plug-ins to SCEC-VDO-- one showing highways,
one showing fault-rupture models and the other displaying the gap in
seismicity near Anza, CA.
