Work Plans:

I would probably divide my work plans into two categories: wishes and goals. My goals are things that I would like to see completed within SCEC-VDO, while my wishes are what I personally would like to accomplish. My primary summer wish is simply to obtain a decent understanding of Java. I believe that I am actually fairly far along in doing this, at least when it comes to making GUIs. However, there is always room for improvement in this area. My overall goal for the summer is to make SCEC-VDO as clear and convenient as possible to all users. This includes adding documentation, fixing and clarifying GUIS, fixing bugs, and anything else that is necessary. However, I do not want to risk making SCEC-VDO too clunky by adding too many special features at the expense of slowing the program or making it confusing. Also, when SCEC-VDO is placed in its final packaging, I would love to make the splash screen, or even make a SCEC-VDO calendar. I enjoy doing anything slightly artsy like this. In regards to my involvement in the Earthquake Catalog group, I would like to make the EQ Catalog one of the easiest plugins to use by the end of the summer. This would involve fixing the GUIs and adding documentation. Of course, I am also willing to do any other tasks not relating to these topics throughout the summer.
