Work Plans:

Over the course of the summer, I hope to learn as much as I can about Java and programming, while still making daily contributions to the software. Since the summer is almost halfway complete, I feel confident in saying that I have come a long way since my first day, and am closer to reaching this goal than I previously thought was possible. So far I've gotten a good amount of experience with making GUIs, and a little bit of experience with making them actually functional. Creating the molchan graph also gave me the opportunity to do some meaty coding as well. But since we don't have much time left, I'd like to spend at least part of the rest of my summer exploring aspects of Java I haven't seen yet, such as 3D visualization. Hopefully the Group A projects will give me a chance to do this. If I succeed, I'll have obtained a well-rounded basic knowledge of Java that will be useful in other scientific projects I might work on in the future.
