2000 SCEC Intern Field Trip (Page 4)

Comments from the Interns on the Colloquium and field trip:

Allison Jacobs
Overall, I thought the weekend was enjoyable, interesting, and educational. The colloquiuim was a good opportunity for me to test my current knowledge of my project and practice explaining it to others. Besides visiting a few too many trenches with Rockwell and friends, I found the exposure to the world of paleoseismic studies to be a good, new experience. Possibly, traveling with the experts gave us a true taste of the scientific and researching climate. My favorite part of the weekend was learning about the precariously perched rocks, (and to complement
Marie's comment, learning to add a beautiful white towel to my bag, and then turn it brown after a day in the desert.) I also thought that Doug was a great person to have along on the trip. He answered questions well
and was very friendly with all of us. Thanks for putting together the weekend. I had fun learning about earthquake-related studies, as well as getting to know my fellow interns.
