The Cart

The cart is the primary source of Geowall's transportability within the SCEC offices at USC.  We bought this from Anthro, and paid $475 (plus s/h).  This price included a 25% educational discount.

The final cart has two 30" x 30" shelves and is 35" high.  It easily fits through standard doorways.  We bought  7" extension tubes but didn't end up using them.  We added a sliding keyboard drawer, a cable management kit, a surge-protector and upgraded 5" Castors to make it easier to roll over door seams and other floor obstacles.  Picking accessories for an AnthroCart is actually kind of fun, and they can give you a pretty good idea as to what you're cart will look like before you order it.

The cart was easy to assemble, although we had to drill holes for the keyboard drawer.  The shelves themselves come in different sizes, and can be mounted at 1/2" intervals along the length of three posts that make up the cart.  They are relatively easy to adjust, if that becomes necessary.  The table does require a special tool for tightening/loosening the screws, so you'll need to keep that piece handy if you plan on doing a lot of rearranging.  We set our cart to the height that would put our projectors around 4'-4 1/2' above the ground.

Although we purchased the surge-protector for $99 thinking there was something special about it, we found that it wasn't that spectacular, and probably not worth the price.  Any other mountable surge protector should work, especially if you are mounting to the underside of the table where you can drill your own holes for the screws.  You can also mount it on the vertical posts using the 1/2" spaced holes.
