How Geowall Works

Ever have one of those moments where you realize that something you thought was really complex suddenly makes sense and its actually really simple?  Meet Geowall.  We had all of the hardware set up and ready to go, with no idea how it was going to work.  When we finally got it working, it was like Toto pulling back the curtain revealing the almighty Oz.  Oh yeah!  Why didn't we think of that?

The system is based on a very simple concept, and it's the two separate monitor outputs on the NVIDIA graphics card that makes it possible.  If you go to Desktop Properties and click on the Settings tab and then select advanced you'll get the following menu:

Desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced

The card comes with the option to cascade/span your monitor images.  When set up for Horizontal span you can put two monitors next to each other and when your mouse moves off the right edge of the left monitor it shows up on the left edge of the right monitor.  Now, just put the left-eye image centered on the left monitor, the right-eye image centered on the right monitor, hook one projector up to each output and projecting those images onto the same screen using polarizing filters to make sure that each image is seen only by the appropriate eye.

It's that easy.
