Comments from the Interns on the Colloquium and field trip: Daniel Raymond The field trip this weekend proved to be an invaluable experience. It was a great chance to see trenches which are similar to the ones I've been studying in geotechnical reports. The trips to Puente Hills, the earthquake trees of Wrightwood and the precarious rocks of Lovejoy Buttes also provided valuable insights into different methods available for studying faults. Many thanks to all those who helped make our trip possible! Kevin Mass I thought the field trip was a great experience. It was exciting to see the Caltech Seismology Lab for the first time. I was also interested in seeing the extent of the Whittier fault trace through the Puente Hills. I had never seen a trench before this trip, but I learned a great deal from the variety of trenches around Southern California. The earthquake trees near Wrightwood were interesting because I had seen similar formations near Frazier Park. Of course, the research cabin was much better than I had expected. It was a great place to relax and view the night sky.
